Commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, is a crucial part of the Shia faith. For three decades Ashura was banned under former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. But with the demise of the dictator hundreds of thousand Shia Muslims come to the holy city of Karbala not only to mourn grandson of the Prophet Muhammad but also to celebrate Saddam's fall.
